Materials: DROPS SAFRAN
50 g colour no 16, black
50 g colour no 18, off-white
50 g colour no 28, orange

A little cotton wool for filling.

DROPS CROCHET HOOK size 2.5 mm - or size needed to get 26 dc x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

CROCHET TIP:
Replace first dc on round with 1 ch and finish round with 1 sl st in ch from beg of round. Turn each row with 1 ch.
CROCHET 2 DC TOG:
Dec 1 dc as follows: Insert hook in dc and pull thread through, insert hook in next dc and pull thread through, make 1 YO and now pull thread through all 3 loops on hook.

HEAD + HAT:
Crochet 5 ch with off-white and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: 8 dc in ch-ring – See CROCHET TIP!
ROUND 2: 2 dc in each dc = 16 dc.
ROUND 3: * 1 dc in first dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* to end = 24 dc.
ROUND 4: * 1 dc in each of the first 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* to end = 32 dc.
Work 6 rounds with 1 dc in each dc.
Change to black and work 4 rounds with 1 dc in each dc. Fill a little cotton wool in the head. On next round work 2 dc tog all the way round – see above = 16 dc. Work 3 rounds with 1 dc in each dc. To make the hat pointed to one side work the first 2 dc on each round tog until there are 3 dc left. Work 1 row of ch approx 12 cm long, cut the thread and fasten the end to the top of hat to form a loop.

HAT RIM:
Crochet with black between the first 2 black rounds on the hat: 1 dc in first dc, 3 ch, then 1 tr in each dc to end = 32 tr, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Next round: 3 ch + 1 tr in first tr, then 2 tr in each tr = 64 tr, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round, cut thread.

NOSE:
Crochet 5 ch with orange and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: 5 dc in ch-ring.
ROUND 2: 1 dc in each dc.
ROUND 3: Crochet the first 2 dc tog, 1 dc in each of the next dc.
Repeat round 3 another 2 times = 2 dc. Cut the thread.

FACE:
Sew the nose to the middle of head and embroider eyes and mouth with black.
